I love the Rebel, incredible piece of equipment. But now I need something small that I can fit in my pocket or in a small bag. Cameras have changed so much and there are lots of small cameras out there!

What is the best $300-$400 small camera out there. Megapixels don't have to be huge, looking for something that will capture color very well indoors and out. I'll be taking pictures of interior design, art, exterior architecture.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I just picked up the canon powershot SD 550 for an in pocket camera for Disney . So far I think it's great . It's tiny and has a 7.2 megapix sensor . If there's one better , I don't know . All I know is I'm happy with this one .

Good Luck ,
Joe

I have the sd550 and love it. Very fast, from when you turn it on to time of shooting it is like 1.7 sec if that. it also has a nice underwater case.( mine will be here Friday will let you know)

Fits in pocket and nice big screen, has lots of options also.

This was taken with the camera (I am still learning both the camera and photography so sorry if it is a bad example)

I have the Canon SD450 and i think its fabulous. My wife keeps it in her purse at all times so its nice to have a digicam handy whenever something comes up.

Thanks everyone. I was looking at Cnet reviews and Canons seem pretty good. Its so hard with hundreds of options, then you can get an older model for $150 new on circuitcity.com and others.

Is there a good website that reviews just point n shoot digital cameras?

I really like my Sony Cybershot T9, right now you can get it and a 1GB memory stick on Dell Home for $350. ~Matt

dpreview has the best reviews, including all the times it takes to autofocus, or power-on to shooting times - also side-by-side comparisons for camera to camera.

I got a female friend a Fuji finepix model F10 - it's an extremely compact model that is very fast from power-on to shoot.

Thank you everyone! I read as much as I could in a short amount of time, went to Costco, C.City and B.Buy and decided on a Kodak V570. I know the rep on Kodak isn't anywhere near Canon but people seemed to really like it. Its the first camera to have two seperate lenses, one is a 23mm wide angle. It also has the most incredible feature, you take 3 photos of a room going L-R and it fuses them together - and I mean perfectly. The camera takes the three and cuts out the overlap. I ended up with a complete 180 view of Circuit City and you would never believe it wasn't with a fish eye.

For whatever reason Dell is practically giving stuff away, they were by far the cheapest, even less than those NY shops. Overnight shipping only cost me $16!

I also figure for $319, even if it sucks I use it for a year and give it to Goodwill.

Thanks again everyone and HEY CRYSTAL! ;-)

Oh btw, since the primary use is taking pix of Interior Design, the wide angle and 3 shot panorama made it an easy choice. I won't win awards for super sharp pix, but I'm not trying to.
