Heater for a 75g

My one week old 75g is currently running on a 300w heater. My thermometer is at the opposite end of the tank, and every time I check it, it reads between 75 and 76 degrees. The heater is set at 82. My question: Should I buy another heater to set up at the cool end of the tank?

300w should be plenty for that tank. Dont go by the setting on the heater, go by the temp probe reading (assuming that is accurate) Check with another thermometer if you can. Once your convinced it is reading properly, just turn your heater up to get where you want.
