help asap, almost done with cube 1 sand question

okay so its 1.75" front and 2" rear sand bed... find sand not CC.
it was dry, i thoroughy washed it with FW and now its in the pico.

i'ma add LR from my estblshd tank and its saltwater. should i add a handfull of sand too or no? and do i have to wait for a cycle? i dont right? cause there's nothing dead to get removed just somethin dry to grow on

so,the sand was dead to begin with?If so you're better off waiting several days to accumulate bacteria,thats assuming you LR is cured and ready to go as you indicated.

LOL, you work fast....I come back from dinner and your tank is almost set up.
I hope you rinsed that sand out well, because it has been sitting outside for awhile, and I didn't rinse it when it came out of my old tank.

I would expect a small cycle after setting the tank up....even if your using cured LR. A handful of sand from your established tank will help accelerate the seeding of the new sandbed.

i rinsed it to the point where when i filled it and disturbed it, the water was almost clear. i rinsed well. check out the pics in the other thread

I would definatly add a cup of live sand.

just add some LR. the cirtters will populate the sand from there.
