help me choose a light fixture for my frag tank

Hello everybody,

Soon I will be getting my 220G display tank that I've been waiting for. The display will have 3x250W MH XM10k bulbs on PFO ballasts, and 2x140W Icecap VHO.

My sump room in the garage will have a 35G acrylic frag tank (36x18x12).

I would like to know what kind of light fixture would allow me to get comparable brightness in the frag tank so that frags will not undergo much acclimation when I move them to the display (or when I make cuttings for that matter).

I have my eye on a tek T5 6bulb 234W. Would that be a good match? I've seen alot of people mention making the retrofit instead of spending $450 on the fixture. How much can you really save making it yourself, and what ballast(s) do you need? I’ve already got so much DIY stuff I need to do before my tank gets here that I probably wont go retro unless the savings are huge.

Or should I be using a MH fixture for the frag tank as well?

Thanks for any input,
Ryan
