help me put together this puzzle

i have a cluster of equipments i used to use on my undrilled 75g about 7 or 8 years ago, and now i'm thinking of using it for a 29g. the only thing is, i have no idea what is what anymore. hopefully you guys can help me figure out what to do with them/identify few things?

here's a list of things i've found.
rio 1100
rio 2100
built in skimmer
CPR sump (w/ built in skimmer) + biobball chamber
CPR hang-on overflow
another hang-on overflow?

Can the bioball chamber be turned into a fuge? Also, I don't remember the skimmer ever working, is there a specific way to connect the built in skimmers?

Could you guys also tell me if that other overflow is necessary or if it is part of the whole CPR pack? Which RIO pump goes where?

MarineDepot still has the Cy192 listed maybe you can get an instruction book by calling CPR. You'll need to dismantle everything and clean it up really well. Most of the crud looks like salt so it should clean up easy. The overflow below the 1100 is only half there it needs the inside part and you'll need to find a u-tube to make either one work, maybe both pics are the 2 halves I'm not sure how it works though. If it's still good the 2500 should be good for the return but you'll probably have to gate it back some, just be aware the older Rio pumps can fail and leak an oily substance into the tank causing severe problems. I had one fail to restart after a power outage, it didn't leak anything but my sump smelled like burned up electrical equipment. I didn't chance reusing anything in the sump or the sump itself. Make sure you're plugged into a GFCI circuit. The skimmer has it's own power head and it will need to be cleaned thouroughly as well. I removed the biobale from my CPR skimmer...

The first overflow I posted has a hole for a tube where I can suck out the air to start a flow. I think the second hang on overflow is a seperate piece, now that I think about it. Any clue what the Rio 1100 might have been for?

Is it possible to take out the bioballs and make a fuge out of it?

The 1100 might be an extra or whatever you want to use it for. I can't help much mor ewith the overflow... If you're asking about the "biobale" I would say the chamber is too small for a fuge...

Is "biobale" the curly white strings? If so, what did you do with the extra space after you removed them?

My skimmer water flows through it, not sure about yours from the pics, but I assume it does too.

I've used a hose to connect the overflow to sump/ pump to tank, but should I use pipes instead? If so, what size. Is there a link where I can learn how to set up a hang-on overflow system?

I think flex hose of the appropriate size for your fittings will work fine. I see what should work in your pics. If you decide to advance in the future think about pipe for plumbing a larger setup. As for the overflow I don't know how the one you have works, I'd go on the assumption it's a CPR model since your sump is and look at their products to see if you can find a match if you are completely unable to remember what you bought. Setup should be fairly straight forward if you can find the info for it or even put it together and try to remember how it used to be set up....

The first overflow is CPR's current design. You will need to tightly insert an airline tubing and hook it up to a aqua lifter pump. This constantly sucks air and water out of it to keep the siphon going. If you have any air leak into this hole it will break the siphon and cause an overflow.

The second overflow requires another in the tank skimmer box. You would hang it on the tank as it is and the box would attach to where the slots are in the front. Then you need a U tube that goes from the front box to the back. This siphones out water.

As for the sump, I would remove the biobale and add live rock to this area. It would function as a fuge. With enough light you could try some macro, but not enough to really do much.
