help me with my polyacrylic

I sanded down my aquarium and painted it flat black- then the people at home depot said i needed to coat it in polyacrylic to keep it from rotting and getting water spots. Well i did one coat and it looks like crap- uneven and blotchy-

any painters to help fix the problem??

I assume you're talking about your aquarium stand. I am not familiar with polyacrylic, but I am going to assume (maybe incorrectly) that it's similiar to polyeurathane. If that is the case, you need to do a light coat of sanding between each coat. Also - go light on the coat - don't apply a thick coat. Multiple thin coats are better than one thick coat.
