Help - Mounting Frags

where are you in miami. i might be able to go down and help you. i just use super glue gel. pull the frag outta the water and blot the area you want to glue just to get all the water off.. not completely dry... then same with the peice you want to glue it to. hold it togeter for about 30 seconds or so and put back in the water. if its a big rock and you cant pull it outta the tank just do the same as above but put the frag in the water and hold it on there for about 30-60 seconds and it should stay. liquid super glue doesnt work to well. and they should be fine on the sand for now. i used to do it with leathers, YSP , and GSP till i could put them somewhere on a rock. sometimes they sat there for a month.
that's a bad idea to plant in the sand cause they'll just die. Just make a BIG BALL of super glue GEL, (1/4" diameter) on the end of each branch, then stick it in the tank, hold it to a rock, powerhead, etc, and it'll be stuck.

No, but they're going to fall over and the bottoms of the coral will die, possibly causing RTN, but it's all about how well your tank is to supporting SPS. I bought plugs, but don't use them for corals that I recieve from other people, only frags that I make for other people. I dont' want my tank full of plugged corals. And even then, they end up growing over the plugs, which I've seen a few times in my tank already, where I had them attached to the rock at the plug, but the coral overgrew the plug.

I have been super gluing as well. Just make the big ball on the end and place and twist.
I have kept frags laying on my sand bed for upwards of a week with no problems at all, no TRN or discoloring of any kind. That is just me though, so I am not sure if you want to chance it. I have a 90G and the frags are a long way from the lights but they still stay healthy, when I find a space I just mount them on the rock and they pretty muich take off after that.
