help with gaping crocea

i've had my 2" crocea for 3 weeks. he was very responsive and open from the start. today, home for lunch, i noticed the crocea wasn't open. now, home for dinner, he's still not open but he's also gaping and has a string of mucus across his mantle and appears to cough for lack of a better description. he's still somewhat responsive to hand movement but the cleaner shrimp is taking too much a liking to him. checked tank specs and they are fine. all other animals seem fine. i dosed 5ml of b-ionic this morning, first time since my last water change 4 days ago. i dose 1.5tsp of dt's every other day. my derasa appears fine as always. one other thing of interest is that i had several sandbed clams from ipsf and two of them surfaced and died earlier this week. what's going on?

nvert,
I am not liking the sound of this. Do you know were the clam is from??? I mean what country. If you can get the clam out into a Q-tank I would! If not take him out a smell him. Also check for rice snails. If he smells rotten get him out of that tank!!! Now are all the tank specks in order?
PH? Very important.
Calcium
Alk.
Temp.
etc.
Lighting seems good.
What about any other animals like fish, crabs and IMO shrimp are not real good for clams.

well, he died. i've had him for almost three weeks. seemed in perfect health up until yesterday. ph is 8.0-8.2, 11dkh, 450ca, nitrates<10, everything else undetectable. before i purchased him i watched him at the lfs for three weeks. he arrived to the lfs gaping so i waited till he recovered and took him home. i think i just had a bad clam...hopefully though NOT with the dreaded clam disease. i will watch my derasa this weekend carefully.
