Help with reaching my AC3 with my Ethernet

:reading::hmm3:ok here's the thing I really don't know much about routers well I don't really know anything about routers. But I would like to be able to program my AC3 via my comp with out having to get a new cable so I have plugged the ac into my router and I have a good connection between the two green light blinks from time to time. I made sure the netmask was right and the gateway as well made Ip 192.168.1.30 and port 8686. I try to go to IE and MSN and both just go to a page offering me some other links saying it could not be found so what am I doing wrong I really want to use this controller sooner the better but trying to set it up for my tank is a Pain in the A$$ also is there a good source to help explain the programming and maybe some examples I have read many post on here already and continue to read more but just want this up and running ASAP also is there a good third party program out there that is free you can run the AC3 through other than the Aqua notes thank you all in advance for any help you can give I'm lost. oh also I have a westell 327w router and us MSN or IE firewall is off?

it did not find any resalts I read that 192.168.1.30 was reserved for a "static conection so I tryed changing it to 192.168.1.50 and also tryed reaching it via 192.168.1.50:8686 and was the same out come

What is the actual AC3 IP addess? Where does port 8686 come into the picture... have you actually changed the http port setting in the AC3 itself from the default setting of 80? Please post all of your AC3's network settings (IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server settings, and http port), and the output from the ipconfig command on your PC.... IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server settings.

Once we have the network configuration right, you'll be able to do most routine tasks from the AC3's web interface. You don't have to have AquaNotes or other software, but you might want to use some of the available programs out there eventually. Let's focus on the basics for now.

There is a sticky thread in this forum of AC3 best practices.. it contains a wealth of info about programming the AC3.

On your AC3, the address is currently 192.168.1.50, right? And nothing happens when you try http://192.168.1.50:8686 ?

Try this: Open a Windows Command Prompt, and type ping 192.168.1.50 then press Enter; substitute the actual AC3 IP address if it isn't .50. Do you get time-outs. or successful replies?

it comes back with pinging for 192.168.1.50 with 32 bytes of data
replt from192.. bytes=32 time=1ms ttl=64 this line is repeted 4 times.
ping statement for 192... :
packets: sent=4 recieved=4 lost=0
approximate round trip time in milli-seconds:
min = 1 ms, max = 1ms ave = 1ms

That is really odd. What happens, it just gives you a page can not be displayed? Are you just typing the IP address in the address bar (not searching)?

well the good news is I'm back online with a new motom/router how ever I still can't get to my AC3 via the web browser? I am trying to stay calm but it really is ticking me off I just don't get it I may have to brake down and just buy the cable. Some one please help

Connect the ACIII to your router. Now login into your router and go to menu that shows all devices connected to your network. Report back with all Devices and IPs shown on this page.

Also when you set the IP, Did you reset the ACIII?

If you can ping it, its on the network. Since it is local, the router doesn't do much. It doesn't route that traffic. Just the Ethernet switch part of the router is used. If you are using the default port 80, and you can ping it, it should work. See if you can telnet to it. Open a command prompt and type in
telnet 192.168.1.50
You should get a login prompt from the ACIII

If all else fails, I would defualt the ACIII and start over with the configuration. What is the firmware version?
