Help with reaching my AC3 with my Ethernet

to be honest I just couldn't tell you I guess it was a matter of having somone who knew what they were doing and that wasnt me I know I had my port settings wrong

Me to I was pulling my hair out trying to figure this thing out. I'm so glad Russ was willing to help me out I have had the controller for like 2 weeks and have been dieing to get it hooked up and now it is al set up and so far doing great the only thing I have not been able to do thus far is link up from a friend's comp Russ told me to go to dyndns.org and set up a dominion name so I did and I can get to it from my comp but can't from one out side of my network there was something I have to enter in my router but not sure of what it is for the Dynamic DNS Configuration it ask for Domain Name which I enter in what I set up on Dyndns.org and the Key Name, and Security Key which I don't know what to enter here I tried used name and password for the DNS and it tells me Bad Key Data !!! so I don't know what it wants I also tried my IP for AC3 and I get the same thing. I don't want to have to bother Russ again he was so helpful already.

I did some reserach on this... seems like DDNS & Westell routers are not a good combination... the user manuals are vague & ambiguous, and there are lots of people who have posted looking for help in this regard. I have not found anyone who says they got it working.

Options:

  • Go without dynamic DNS
  • Use the Windows DynDNS client program
  • Use another router connected behind the Westell solely to do DDNS.

I would get it working without the DDNS first, and worry about that later. You will need to config the router for a static mapping of the external IP and port to the internal IP and port.

well atleast it is working now even if I can't get to it from elseware

You can still get to it from the Internet... I just tested, and it is still accessible by IP address. The URL to use is http://98.231.nnn.nnn

Go onto your router main status page to see the current IP address; put the right numbers in the URL above, and you should be fine.

You can also go here to find your current public IP address (while at home):

http://www.reeftronics.net/showip.php

Dynamic DNS is not required... it is a great convenience however.

Re: Help with reaching my AC3 with my Ethernet

You put the Ip address of your AC3 in dyndns. That wont work. It has to be your public IP address entered in dyndns.

try that
When I put in my IP a for my router it will not let me go to controller from my link it just says it just says The webpage cannot be found
