Herbie issues with gyre pumps

I have a herbie setup in one corner overflow on my tank. 2 gyre 150s for flow. One mounted to the side pane by the overflow and one mounted 2/3rds down the other side of the tank suspended from the top brace. I've had this set up going for awhile with no issues. I took both pumps out to clean them thoroughly and now when the flow pattern changes (gyre mode) my overflow box goes crazy. It fluctuates about 4 inches in height every time the pattern changes. Very annoying. What am I missing?

I have 2 130 on my peninsula with a herbie and had the same issue. I just closed the valve a little bit , and lowered the water level on the top drain

I've been messing with my valve and nothing seems to work. Weird that I didn't have this problem before though
