Here comes some ICE! Anybody going to invest in a generator?

Snowpocolypse didn't fail here...

16" right now, another 4-8" of snow is expected before it ends later tonight.

According to our weather people, I-70 is closed from Wentzville to Kansas City and most/all of the tow truck companies are closed too...they can't get through the snow to get to people.

The news has now moved on to how cold and windy it's going to be, since they can't talk about accumulation and power outages.

"Wind watch 2011!"

Yeah they just talked about 70 being closed.
I guess STL and county was just lucky

PICS!

Here are two current ones...16" of snow:

Drifting already:

Some from this afternoon, about 2pm:

If there is limited visibility, why are you walking down the middle of the road?

Here's why I-70 is closed:

Mailpeople are still out trying to deliver in this stuff. This was taken at the 70/63 interchange.

Same Here Chelsey, I just took out the trash and measured 12" and it's still snowing like crazy... My neighbor just came by and said his 4wd tractor got stuck trying to clear the drifts and the end of our road. For now were are drifted shut...:smurf::smurf: at least until I get my hands on a bigger tractor probaly tomrrow.:eek1: But at least for now we still have power :bounce2::bounce1::bounce3:

We have about a half inch of ice on everything and the light keep flickering but are still on. Quite a few people around us have no power but we still do.

I got about 3 inches of sleet and then rain on top to make it solid and now a little more sleet. Looks like I am almost done. The tail of the storm never wrapped around south like they thought it would. The main path for me is north of 70.

all the people that freaked and bought generators are selling them on craigslist now. I will keep mine cause i should have bought one years ago. Now in the spring i will be prepared for tornado season.

I have to say, for St. Louis/Valley Park area, this the biggest disappointment ever. Wasn't so much worried about losing power but I was definitely banking on a snow day for work tomorrow.... LOL @ weather predictions of 8-12 inches for my area and not even getting 3.

Welp, back to the salt mines....:hammer:

We ended up with 20" and they were calling for 18-20. It's super windy here now though, and snow is drifting all over the place.

Half inch or more of ice covering everything here with about 3-4" of sleet and snow on top of it. All that ice combined with the heavy winds has knocked out power to quite a few people around us but ours is still going with a little flicker every once and a while.

Work sucked last night....
Why on God's earth do you have to get into a fist fight with your family when the roads are snow covered and difficult to negotiate with a rear wheeled drive car?

Thankfully I can take a Crown Vic into places and up hills I probably shouldnt.... and more importantly, I can take it back out of those places too...

Being cooped up because of the weather is probably WHY they fight...

Sure a crown vic is bad, but i feel really sorry for the mail carriers.
not only do they drive in the crap, but snowplows block the boxes, or you have to get out and walk door to door.

Makes me glad I'm not either...lol

And am I the only one that feels ripped off?... I spent $100 on fuel salt etc... for this failed disaster.
Sorry for those that didnt miss it.

Guess it was a good thing tho... I finally got time to clean my skimmer, and fill my Cal reactor

Yes, a little ripped off. I spent $4 on some good ear plugs in case the power went out because "one" of my neighbors was running one hella loud Genset the other day! :D

Well I'm happy it was only a trial run. Did get a chance to do some maintenance to the tank as well as take in a few movies.
