Yesterday my son and I were at our LFS looking for another "perfect" rock to add to my tank, when all of a sudden I saw this odd thing peer between two rocks in one of their tanks. Of course this really caught my eye and I than began to hear the amazing "clicking" sound. I hurdly found one of the sale clerks and showed her and asked her what it was (not that I already didn't know but somehow just wanted to clarify, since why would they have one in there show tank) and she began to tell me that it was just one of the little things that live in the rock and was no big deal. WELL I just knew better than this so my son and I just kept on watching the little critter doing his bussiness on the rock there. Pretty soon I couldn't take it any longer and told my son to go and get the dude at the till, (which is the owner) and tell him that he has a mantis shrimp in his tank. So here comes the owner telling my son that it is not a mantis and is probably something else. So now here we both are at the tank and he is pointing to something else and I am pointing to something, when I finally say just listen! "Hmmh, your right there he is""probably why all of my crabs and snails are gone out of that tank" YA THINK! So we got the excitement of watching the owner tear his tank apart and getting this little guy about 2" and to me I am facinated with them, put him in a bag for us and we brought him home!! We have him in a 1.5 gallon tank for now and my son is going to make him larger tank. But for now he is fun to watch and seems to like his new home.
