my alk is at 13 and it doesnt change much, my tap water is at12,
cal 400 ph 8.4 sal 1.023, what kind of harm can high alk do to coral or is this ok to run at??????/

Thats a bit on the high side. I would think that it should reduce on its own. I think that you are OK short term try and let the alk fall to around 10 or 11. meanwhile it may be a very good idea to look into an RO unit for your tank use. What kind of salt mix are you using??

Instant ocean usually mixes up around 12 DKH . What kind of test kits are you using? Are you adding any buffer?? If so I would stop untill the alk drops.

aquarium pharmaceuticals i am adding a buffer agramilk, just a calcium buffer, so i will quit the supplement but wilol the calcium drop off and the alk high or do they react with each other??????

I think the agramilk is a calcium additive. Your calcium at 400 ia aok for now. I would keep an eye on the ca and keep it no lower than say 380. Let the alk fall for a few days then mabe try a balanced two part. Check the chemistry forum for Randys homemade two part. works great cheap too. Have you looked into the reef calculator?? Mighty helpfull too.

When in any kind of doudt about these sort of things. Its always a good idea to run by Randy in the chemistry forum. If it was made for a reef hes heard of it.

being your tank is new(from you sig) its kind of normal for the alk to be high. your tank will go through a cycle where your calc and alk levels well be off, then slowly start to balance out. 13dKH is not harmful just a little high. and yes Randy is the chemistry God around here :D
