hippo tang behavior???

my hippo tang is acting strange ....he looks very skinny and he keeps nestling in a crevice in the LR...he looks like he dide in there until i walk up to the tank...then he swims away like nothing is wrong? earlier he was brushing along the LR as if he was itching himself....any idea?

That behavior sounds normal for a hippo, If he looks skinny and wont eat you can try socking his food in garlic.

no hes eating fine but he just started this behavior...should i worry?

How big is your tank. How long has it been set up? How long has the tang been in there? It may be typical hippo behavior may be something else.

i have a 55 gal long...the tank has been set up for a few years...the tang has been there for apprx. 3 months.....like i said he just started this the last few days

Does he have any visible wounds he could be scratching? Any ich spots? My hippo would scratch if had a sore on him. H always hides when he sleeps at night. He sueezes into a ridiculously small crevice to sleep and would sometimes nick himself. He would then scratch that spot for a couple days

ok well i dont have to worry about his behavior anymore....because i havent seen him in 3 days...he dissapeared

hmmm how big was he? If he is dead and you don't find him you might have an ammonia cycle.

My tang likes to lay sideways in the rockwork. He looks like an F-16 flying through the mountains.....fun to watch. I would say your tang is acting normal, but now that it is missing, who knows???
