Hello
Really would appreciate some advice.
I Purchased a trumpet today, 5 head florescent green.
One of the heads is not as healthy as the rest of them.
I only noticed this when I finally placed it in my display.
When I look at it with a magnifying glass, I notice a small hole in the side of it with something that protrudes like a feather duster, only rapidly in & out of the hole ?

Any idea what this is, and should I dip it in an lugouls solution /RO/Di water.

Any advice would be appreciated !!!

A good dip never hurt anything, well maybe not anything...

if that don't work, plug his hole :)

I place everything I get in a small plastic tank, at least overnight if not longer. Inspect well, then place in the tank. Kinda a screen door effect, but definately NOT a QT, for this you must keep seperate much longer. I figure its better than nothing, but I Will start to Qt down the road now that im getting quite the stock load I could loose.

Good Luck!

Wow. Plug the hole, eh? :)

If it's what I think you're explaining it's just a barnacle. If that particular head looks the worst it's roughly a .001% chance that the barnacle has anything to do with it.

Thanks for the reply

I think that it is a barnacle. After burning the midnight oil last night on the forums, I found some info. on them.

Listed in the "Odd's & End's" section.
The trumpet head is slightly odd looking where the hole is, compared to the other heads, causing me to think "What's Up ?"
After spending some time with a magnifying glass, I notice it's not as bad as I thought. This my first LPS & I did not know what to expect, let alone something in a hole in it waving at me

I guess that it's a rather odd hitch hiker, & I hope that it doe's well in the display, unless it's something that should be removed.

Always appreciate some opinions.

Thanks Again To All

It's not really too odd of a hitchiker, I've had them embedded in Favia, Acanthastrea, Cyphastrea, and in several pieces of live rock. In my experience they do about as well as xmas tree worms do, holding on for a good long while but eventually puttering out. Regardless, they're harmless. Good luck in LPS, they make fuzzy sticks look like fuzzy sticks.

I just got a acro from the lfs and got a acro crab not even sure what to do with it , or if it is even good for the corals. Info guys. Help.
