hob filter/ refugium conversion

I currently have a hob filter that id like to convert to a refugium. its rated for a 75gallon tank. I was mainly considering throwing some live rock rubble in it and a nice big ball of macro algae to help my copepod population. I was thinking I could use a cfl dome light with a clamp to hang above it. a few questions I have is would I need to put a smaller motor on it so the flow through the macro isn't too strong like say one for a 50 gallon filter or would I be ok with the bigger motor. also will the 27000k cfl bulb be enough to keep the algae growing or should I get a stronger bulb. anyone who has done something similar with a better concept or ways to refine are greatly appreciate thanks. oh and id really like to put. some live sand in there but couldn't come up with a way to keep it from washing into the motor, any ideas ??

It's been done before. Aquaclear 70 and 100 are popular choices. I have a AC70 on my nano with rubble and cheato in it. For lightning I made a 2 Cree warm white light that sits above it and runs on opposite light schedule with the nano it self.
I'd say go for it.
