Hot Stores?

Hi all, I'll be back in town a few days this week and was wondering what the hot stores are these days? I already figured I'd check out Tong's, Eric's and Anthony's shops - but is there anything else that has really nice stuff these days? Looking mostly for nice LPS like acans/micros/etc - but always a sucker for nice rare SPS.

Or if anyone has anything they wanna sell, especially micros - thanks!

I'll be all over, but staying on the Westside near Brentwood.

Thanks,

David

Man dude I wish I could. I'm actually in town doing some restaurant "research" and I have nada free time. I'll be back out though in two weeks, lets do it then. "Tankless?" Really? I don't know what I'd do with my free time if I didn't have a tank up, but I'm sure it would be expensive. ;-)

Thanks Gabriel, I'm definitely gonna try to hit RM.

ooh, lots of great restaurants on the westside. maybe drop by capo for some research...hehe. its on ocean ave in santa monica, just south of the loews hotel.

Thanks for the tip, lemme break out Zagat and checkout your taste

I used to stay at Lowe's on business, when someone else is payin ... not anymore. I lived in Brentwood through most of the 90's though (right down the street from the missing bloody glove), I'll be up n down Montana. If you know of any upscale, trendy Asian LMK. Mostly Thai, anything but Japanese really. Any Asian fusion would be great.

on pico/bundy, there is chan dara (cute and fiesty waitresses).

on navy/main in SM, there is chaya venice.

and there is bite on washington, a block (or less) from the beach (venice/mdr)

lemme rack my brain and i'll get back to you with more suggestions.

Hey Flinger i'f you are going to Tong's you might want to see snipersps. He is not far from there. Lots of sps and lps.

David, if you venture north to Thousand Oaks, check out Tat's place. It's usually loaded with Acans.

Katana on sunset

Orris on sawtelle

Crustacean is always a favorite

Lemme think about this.....

Mako on beverly near my house. This place is REALLY good.

Thanks everyone for the tips. Chuck is Mako near Chin Chin? I think I walked past there last time I stopped by your place. Man I'd love to hook up with you guys, but I'll have my partner and chef with me. They are no fun. Now if someone wants to hook up for no rae bong (spelling way off, whatever you call korean karaoke) in K-town at 2:00 a.m. that's a different story. (kidding)

Mako is across the street and a little south of Chin Chin. Eurasion fusion cusine. Very good food. Small place.

Oh yeah for sushi, you might want to try out the "new" sushi sasabune. They moved from that hole in the wall locale on sawtelle and went to the previous location of Todai on Wilshire. I personally prefer the place on the west side of sawtelle closer to olympic though (name starts with a "K" but it's escaping me).

Oh yeah, FYI, I'll be at Mako on Monday.

chuck! you did not say crustacean. that place sucks! well foodwise that is. the decor and ambience is pretty good though. as for the sushi joint, are you thinking of kiriko? its in the olympic collection.

i actually went to sasabune a couple weeks ago, the service and ambience has improved drastically. i recall when they were in the little ghetto building, the sevice and ambience left a lot to be desired. btw, the omakase was great!

can't really think of any more thai fusion places. lots of japanese fusion places in town but doesn't look like japanese is on your research list.

no rae bang (sp?) it is!! i'll bring some soju. LOL!!

I like the garlic crab and tiger prawns at Crustacean. They also have good fried bananas and salads. I dunno the rest.

Mako is better anyhoo.

Yeah Kiriko. I dig that place.
