House Water PSI in Aurora/Denver

I'm looking to buy a RO/DI unit and since units have different psi requirements, I was wondering what typical water pressure is for folks in Aurora or Denver. Also, what's your house water TDS before you start to filter? // Dave

I never worriedabout PSI- TDS is about 125 I think (in Stapleton).

Most of the time its 80 psi+ coming in from the main but you have a PRV right before your meter and that will regulate it down to anywhere from 20-80 psi usually.
The PRV is typically adjustable so put a gauge (available in the sprinkler section of home depot) on an outside sillcock (faucet)and see what your pressure is set at.

32 is unbelivable - your filters must last forever. In Florida, I hit 450+...

Thanks for the feedback - I'll look for a PRV. From what I've read if your pressure isn't optimum, your RO will have a worse ratio.

Most people up here dont use ro
I just hooked mine up after 5 years of not haveing one and I have had SPS for 3 or 4 years

I am not sure I agree - perhaps if everyone was 32 TDS natural, but I would be curious to see what a poll would say....

the lfs stores in greeley and a couple in Ft.collins don't use ro.

I have never tested my pressure, but the TDS out of the tap is 150. With clean prefilters my 75 GPD produces 5 gallons in 2.66 hours or 45 GPD.

Keep in mind that it makes water faster in the summer vs the winter due to higher water temps.

Thanks Dave - I know in Aurora our water has more TDS then up north and even after my onestage DI filter I had a 7 TDS reading.

Even 32 seems high but to each his own. I still have lingering algae that is a fine green type, not hairy, or slimy but typical algae. My nitrates read v. low - the flow, bulbs, and other parameters are good. Still with water being key, it's time I finally invested in a RO/DI. I've looked on all over including e-bay and if I don't see anything attractive at the garage sale next week, I'll probably go with this.

Then eventually replace the filters with Spectrapure cartridges

That is a great price - and it looks like a 3 stage DI too! I would get that one....
