How close to mount t5 lights?

Hi,

I am going to be using 2 HO T5 actinics to supplement my metal halides but I have to mount them about 8 -10 inches above the water.

The tank is 24" deep. Will this be ok ?

The closer to the water that you can mount them, the better off you will be - but if you're stuck with that 8-10 inch distance above the water, HO T5s with parabolic reflectors probably have the best penetration as compared to PC or VHO at the same distance.

if its for supplementation light, it doesnt matter.


i have my t5ho lit tank tubes around 6" off the water. no issues at all. there are guys running them higher than i have mine, and they are not complaining either.. my tank is still mega bright...

Agree with horkn. If it's for supplementation, it shouldn't matter at all.
