How do I remove clams from live rock?

I have 2 crocea clams in my reef that are attached to the live rock. I need to remove them. What is the best way to get them off without damage?

I have heard to use a sharp razor blade and cut the foot off as close to the rock as possible is one option. Is there a better way?

you dont cut the foot off, you cut the byssal threads where they attach to the rock

That is what I meant, the byssal threads. This is the best way then?

Basic idea is to cut the threads as close to the rock as possible with a sharp blade. Scraping along the rock as you go, correct?
