Put it in a tank, and wait.

Really other than blowing dead tissue off and keeping the water quality up with lower flow than normal i dont think there is much to be done.

Did the bag rip during shipping?

somethin tells me that coral has been dead for awhile.....hopefully im wrong what does it smell like if it smells like seawater its dead and has been for awhile...

i've seen these before while snorkeling in hawaii. guilty as I am, i broke a piece off while in hawaii, left it in hotel room with some water no sun. then it died, it stinks reallly bad and turn completely white. as you can see, the lower portion of this is white, so that part is dead, i think the rest still have a chance.

#1 if I were you I'd never want to admit to stealing coral from hawaii
especially haunama bay
#2 get that trigger OUT of that nano
#3 this must be some kind of a set up post , because anyone can see that coral is as dead as your brain !!

I felt sorry for you in the begining when I thought you got ripped off buying a dead coral, but now....that trigger needs more space!!!!

the bottom is white because it was prolly stuck in the sand and the green part is green beacause there is no life left in it to keep the algae off of it..pick any stoney coral you have that you know is alive and smell it it kinda has a chemical smell now smell that one i'll bet it smells like the ocean ..not dead rotting flesh and definatly not a live coral..your not the first and you wont be the last to be taken by someone else i've seen this happen in our lfs's on trans shipped coral you will get a whole box of beautiful live coral and they will slip in a dead piece knowing they are halfway around the world PAID...OH AND I WOULD AGREE GET THAT TRIGGER OUT OF THERE!!!!!!

the nano is a temporary home until i get my 300 gallon up. i didn't pick this piece from the ocean. if someone in the bay area have a bigger tank and don't mind harboring the trigger until i get the 300 gallon up, then i don't mind either. lmk

the trigger came with the rocks i got...

So does it turn white or green when it's dead?

It turns white. Then after a while it starts growing algea it's the algea that's green, brown and purple. The coral you got was dead for a while before it was shipped to you now it is just live rock. If it was alive when it was shipped and died in transit it would be VERY bright white. It takes a little while for algea to grow on it.

It´s illegal to collect, keep, have, buy or sell hard corals in Hawaii.
Please tell your friends.
