How do you frag a coral???

I know on the frogspawn: get some rose-cutters, and dry them off well after use. Do not cut through living tissue if you can help it. Glue the new piece to a rock afterward. Use new cutters and never use them for anything else. They might also work on the colt. The zoos, you may have to use a razor, but ask the zoa folk for that.

For zoa's I like to use a bonecutter or you can use a scissors and chip off some of the rock underneath them. I then take a razorblade and cut the piece between them.
Some people peel them off but it never worked to good for me.
Some just use a chisel and crack off a piece of the rock.
You can also put a rock next to them for them to grow on but it takes time.

Coral are very resiliant just start cutting, you will loose a few but gain many.

I tried cutting the frogspawns from the branch, and attatched it to a dead calcium deposite, it started growing.
I just remembered someone told me never to cut anything from the gums, thats like breaking their legs...errr... yea... it doesnt grow back!
Not only that, the mother colony had smaller babies on the side of the calcium deposit, which was really wierd. Guess I ll have to wait and see how large this colony will become.

I've found the best way to frag a colt is to use as little pressure against the flesh while still holding it against the rock etc. you're attaching it to.
When I frag my colt I first find a rock that has a hole in it large enough to stick the base of the frag into. After I cut a piece from the mother colony I use one of those plastic sword toothpicks and spear the frag a distance from the base equal to the depth of the hole in the rock. Basically, you want to be able to stick the base of the frag into the rock and have the toothpick rest on the top of the rock with the base of the frag in the hole. Once the frag has been put in place, attach a rubberband to both ends of the toothpick and around the rock loose enough to not put pressure against the colt but tight enough to keep the frag attached to the rock. The little pressure on the flesh of the colt at the point of insertion will prevent the flesh from tearing all the way through and once the colt has attached to the rock you can easily remove the band and toothpick and the colt will heal quickly.
