how do you guys rinse your dry sand?

I purchased 30 lbs of fuji pink sand for my new build and learned from my last that I should rinse the sand. My question is,what is the proper way to rinse dry sand? I am afraid of using tap water to rinse it because I do not want to risk having chlorine leach into the tank after I let it dry and whatnot.
RO/DI method would honestly be too much work for me as I only have a 75gpd unit and honestly think that 75 gallons of rodi wouldn't even be enough to rinse it all.

What suggestions do you guys have?
I was thinking maybe just use both the rodi and waste water together to rinse it,what do you guys think?

thanks in advance

put it in a 5 gallon bucket about a little past half way, stick a water hose in it and swirl it around and let it run over and out for a couple of minutes, I usually do this about 3 times or so or when the water is mostly clear. If you like put some alittle prime in it if your worried about chlorine or do your final rinse with some RODI water. Honestly when you drain it, there is not enough there to make a big difference so you can just scoop and fill....

Hey thanks for your response,so you think if I do a few final rinses with rodi I should be safe?

Fiji pink has pretty fine particles so you may want to rinse it thoroughly. Keep stirring it up and you should get more and more crap coming out. It will be hard work but that crap will be floating in your tank for days otherwise.

Pillow case and the bathtub faucet. Works like a champ

I use two 5 gallon buckets and a water hose.

ill put a small amount in one bucket, rinse and dump with the water hose until the water runs clear, then transfer it to the other bucket. Repeat.

I used a BRS reactor with a 5 micron sediment filter in it. I just poured the sand in my tank and stirred it up every few hours while the filter cleared the water.

Thanks everyone, I cleaned the sand up today!
Washed the sand in a bucket with a garden hose and rinsed it 3 times with some ro/di and I think it should be fine now!
