Title kind of says it - how are you keeping your maxi-jets attached The suction cups just do not hold for very long. Help! Wife does not like putting her hands in the tank when I am out of town!

Unfortunately suction cups rarely work for any length of time. You can buy the sure grip mod or maybe diy something. Short of buying other powerheads such as Koralias, etc, that have magnets, you're kind of "stuck." ;)

I use the Sure Grip magnets that fit all Maxi-Jet sizes. There are several online places you can purchase them. I've had mine for years and they do the job perfectly.

Have to agree with the others, sure grip is the way to go. I've got them on all 4 of my MJs and they work great, never have to worry about a PH falling of stirring up the sand bed and killing all of my corals.

I bought some neodymium magnets for various uses and used them for a while. It worked pretty well.

some basic rules

some basic rules

the first thing you do when opening up a MJ is toss the suction cups out.
They're useless and can be a potential danger if/when they fail.
Use the hangars included with each MJ.
Your powerheads should be located just below waterline- NOT deep in the aquarium.

Golden rule: You need to provide enough flow at the surface that detritus on the bottom gets disturbed.

keep maximum water disturbance/movement at surface.

Create a gyre with flow.

Corals placed deeper in the aquarium should be species that don't appreciate intense lighting/high energy water flow.

Corals placed up high in the aquarium should be species that thrive in high energy flow and intense lighting (ie: shallow water Acroporiids)

Ok..makes sense.

I have a pair of Koralia Nanos I keep running at the bottom to eliminate dead spots.

I understand the spirit of this post and agree, but I have found suction cups that come with heaters and power heads to be great for reducing vibration in pumps and skimmers and such... much the same way people use mouse pads and the like.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Here is a tip that you can try. Put a spot of aquarium safe silicone on the suction cup to help kep it "sealed" onto the glass wall. It wont be moveable until you take the cups off by scraping. Then you can clean off the silicone and redo it again.
