Yeah pretty much! +1, I've learned latin names of almost everything too, but I have 3 types of Montipora capricornis, and several Acropora spp. Two A. formosas, and a number of others, that really doesn't help me keep track of them very well as far as headcount goes. For this reason I use the designer names and trade names which are certainly of more common usage. I talk to a lot of reefers (working in an LFS) and even some of the most hardcore ones won't know what Goniastrea australensis, or what Plerogyra sinuosa, or Pachyseris rugosa is.
Usually I don't glue things in until I'm satisfied with their placement/color/growth, I thought that's what "keeping track" meant. But evidently you guys are just talking about names.
