How fast do mantis grow?

I have what I think is a mantis in my refuge (currently just 6 inches of sand and 3 lbs of rubble live rock (which is where I think he came from). It looks a lot like a mantis but moves so fast I cannot be sure. Anyway with nothing in there for him to eat right now will he grow? And if so how fast?

Assuming that you have a Neogonodactylus wennerae from Florida, maximum size will be 3 inches in about 5-6 years. They grow relatively quickly when small, but slow considerably when they get to 2 inches. Without a good supply of food, growth will be much slower. Living off the infauna of the live rock and sand, it will probably molt only two or three times a year and grow no more than 5% total length a molt.
