It's been a month and a half since I first introduced TBS liverock to my tank--the rock is now the basis for my tank that is coming along OK. Here are some of the recent frag additions to my tank--Toadstool--Mushrooms--Xenia--Zoos...

Lousy pictures I know--but just to give you an idea of how my tank is progressing.

Very nice pics Wazoo! How is your clean up crew doing on the algae? Any new additions?
Not as great a job as I'd like--I added five more blue legged hermit crabs-still have some hair algae. Need to lower my nitrates and phosphates. I ordered a wet/dry. Will be here tomorrow--

Still have trace of nitrite too once in a while--can't figure out why. Nothing dead, nothing decaying. I think it might be from some sponge die-off on my rock. It isn't harming anything though. Thankfully!!

How is your tank coming along, Howard--you have part 2 yet?

Finally got part 2 late last night after my boxes got bumped off the flight they were supposed to be on at 11AM. Everything looks good and I checked the few tunnels in the large rocks closely and didn't see any hint of a mantis, but there have been a couple of loud clicks coming from the tank since yesterday :-(

Hopefully it's just a pistol shrimp or two because this 2nd shipment really had no rocks with deep holes or tunnels anywhere so I don't see where there could have been a mantis hiding out.

The one odd thing is there have been a pile of about 8 hermits just sitting in a big pile on the top of a rock right under the skimmer return and they don't move. I acclimated them over a 3 hr. period last night so I hope they are ok and start working on the hair algae a bit. .

"I ordered a wet/dry."

You dont want a nitrate factory, err i mean wet/dry filter. It will only make your problem worse. Instead, convert it to a refugium. That will do wonders for your nitrates.

Just curious as to why the wet/dry will create a nitrate factory? Even running a wet/dry you still will need to perform water change.

Thanks.
