How long is good for quarantine of clams

Just curious about how long is long enough to spread infectious disease from clam to clam in your opinion, in your experience. I am personally using one month before adding any new clams to my tank(s) with existing Tridachnids. Do you think this is long enough for any symptoms of pathogens or infections to appear? Perhaps it is too long?

This may be in Knopp's book, but I did not look for it. The length of quarantine should be greater than the time it takes for pyramid snail eggs to hatch. This way, you can make sure you won't introduce these pests to your main display yet.

I don't quarantine clams because I don't have a suitable setup for new clams..so I am paying the price now because I don't know what hitch hikers come with my purchase (corals or clams).

Quarratine is a matter of preference. A sick clam should exhibit signs in the first couple of weeks. As for hitchhikers, wild clams should be scrubbed prior to placement in a tank.

I meant to say above, how long is long enough to not spread infectious disease from clam to clam, but, I'm sure you all figured that out. Thanks for the replies. :)
