How many flame wrasses in 100 gallon?

Hi,

I have a new 100 gallon tank (about 1month old) and my LFS just got 3 male flame wrasses and 5 female flame wrasses. I've read that male wrasses are poor shippers but all wrasses are eating and doing well in the store. I'm debating between a trio-1 male and 2 females- for $300, or just get 3 females for $240 and wait for one to turn into a male.

I don't care much about the cost, but what is my best option in terms of acclimation?

I'll have them in my 60gallon QT tank for 6-8 weeks. And what's the best QT method for flame wrasses?

i personally dont have any experience with them but LiveAquaria (reputable vendor) lists 1 in 90gal. also as know jumper u will need to cover the top of ur tank.

1 max. You put two in, they will likely fight, if they don't kill each other from constant stress, one will likely cause the other to jump out (if they have the opportunity)

I wouldn't put two males in the same tank. But I have seen a number of tanks of your size with a trio of one male and two females. QT would be like most fish, bare tank with PVC fittings for hiding.

In a tank that size a trio would work for awhile but when one turns male the two females will be pestered and beat to death. If you have the room it is best to have at least 4 females to 1 male in my experience.
