how much do you feed your dendrophyllia?

if you could, please tell me how much you feed your dendrophyllia.

i feed my full-growns about 6 mysis or a piece of grocery-store bought shrimp every other day, and the babies about half a mysis (seems like that is about all that they can fit.) the big ones occasionally doesn't hang on to it's food very quickly, maybe every other week, but i was told this could be normal.

...but of course, i've only kept mine for about a month and a half now.
just wanted to know if it's enough.

That seems like a good feeding schedule, Thats probably more then most do so you'll get a boost in growth IMO

That seems like a lot, certainly adequate. In fact, it seems like it could be almost too much. Are you making sure that the Dendros are not regurgitating the food?

I feed mine a couple mysis or brine every 2-3 days.

Maybe it is - I know for a while that I was certainly overfeeding it, since it would open up really wide a several hours later and spew it out. I still cut down. I'll try cutting it down slowly to 3-4 mysis every 2-3 days. Do you think that'd be sufficient? Thanks for your input!

I would just keep a close eye on it after feeding so much at once. That amount should be fine and not likely to upset it. I have found that my dendro is not nearly as voracious as my tubastrea. Even though dendro polyps tend to be larger than tubastrea polyps, they seem to be only able to handle half as much food at once.

My Tubastrea are fed about every evening with artemia or mysis. All they will eat. Overfeeding isn't what I would call a problem as excess food is taken by other inhabitants. It sounds like you are giving them more than they require, but. as long as it remains in the gastral cavity and they are re-opening their polyps to feed further, then I would say all is fine.

I have a friend who feeds three times/day =) She gets insane growth!

They are slow growers but you can push them with feedings. I was using finely chopped squid & krill for a while but the polyps were regurgitating large chunks so I switched to a smaller food. They really seem to like the roti-feast & arti-feast, also some fresh fish roe for good measure (from the local fish market)

I've been feeding my large one a few mysis or ocean plankton every day. I haven't seen it regurgitate anything, but it appears to be getting huge. I have the one giant one and about 7 babies, and those are more difficult. Two of them are big enough for one mysis, and the rest are too small for anything but rotifers or cyclopeeze.
