B. merletti of that size would cost me about $30-40 locally. Depending on your location it could cost a lot more. I think most online vendors would charge $60-80 (just a guess). Good luck buying (or selling) it.
ok i went to the lfs to pick it up today. I found that it may need some TLC. Now the question is what do i need to do to help this out? I got it for 29.99 because i noticed like 2 dead heads on it. Ill put a pic up but plz remember it looks unhealthy because its just been transported about 1.5 hours and hasnt had time to fill out like it was in the lfs(i hope thats the case). Do they normally close up while traveling? It was beautiful before i took it from the lfs.
question about lighting and feeding, they require low light correct? And feed on chopped up mysis correct? So under 20k MH they need to be in the shade correct?
correct correct correct, and low flow. they my blastos feed on pretty much anything i feed the tank. mysis, blood worms, chopped squid, brine. i feed a variety.
not correct correct correct, as usual you may want to start out low in the tank but mine (all three of my merletis) are directly under 2x400w 10k metal halides in my 90 gallon. Just thought I'd chime in, you don't always need low light for these.
did you give him an Iodine dip? that would be the first step for me with any coral now matter what. mine are sitting under 20k XM 250 watt MH they just like a little flow enough to move the polyps around.
actually no i didnt.................but here are the day 3 pics....first one is of the whole piece and the second one is a close up as you can see its open and likes the 175w halides.
Thanks for you help guys!
and the black parts are algae that came on it. Which is now removed because it was smothering the heads!
