Saltwater Guru
I just noticed I've been on RC since March of 2000 Thats a long time.. Thinking back at all the tanks I've had man I've learned alot
I started out when i was in College at fresno state went into whities pets and decided I wasnted some clownfish so i listened to the very smart(yes pun intended) LFS employee and bought a bunch of crushed coral and a undergravel filter and converted my 46g bowfront to saltwater.. Needless to say everything died shortly there after.. thinking about it I've had the 46g, two different 90gallons, a 180g a few different 40gallons, about 10 different 20gallon setups, a 25tall anenome only tank, a few 55g setups, tons of different frag tanks, clams tanks, acrylic, glass reef ready, hob overflow, SPS only, softie only, the list goes on and on but no matter what seems to happen in my life and everyone that know me can attest to this i get out of the hobby and then a month or two or more later im back =) What is it about this hobby that so addictive... When I got married (the whole year I was married LOLOLOL) I would'nt even let myself go into a reef store because I knew I'd end up setting up a tank that night... it's a total addiction reefkeeping in like a Drug maybe even more expensive than drugs.. Especially when your buying LE's and Chalices and Rare Zoas and Live rock from stores=).... All in all I absolutely love this hobby and I'm excited to see what the future holds for all of us in this hobby..
I've taught alot of ex girlfriends about the hobby over the years and a few of them still have tank I setup from them..Sometimes i even randomly get calls from them or friends I haven't heard from in years with a tank question... but a good thing is I also get the random calls from friends hey I got a tank you want it..
=)
I just picked up a beautiful 125 with stand and canopy from my good friends girlfriend yesterday for free(well cost me like $40 in gas to pick it up) but it was worth it also came with some extra equipment...
presently sitting in my barn I have:
two 125g's
2 55g's
2 40g's
4 20g's
10g
2 6g's
30g breeder
several sumps, powerheads lights etc...heater all kinds of crap and i can never seem to let myself get rid of it because I know i'll just need it in the future when i finally build my huge in wall or penisula setup then I'll be kicking myself for getting rid of it=)
Anyone else have any similar expierences in this hobby...
and right now i only have a lil 40g setup(mostly because I'll be moving once again this summer) and not quite sure what size setup the house we get will accomodate if I'll be able to have a full bedroom to convert to a fish room/propogation room like I really want...
