HOW TO ATO - Which Float switch??

I am trying to find out which float switch i should use. I am thinking of getting this

Is this ok to use in a reef tank??

Thats what i am most worried about. Also... what does this "piggy back" thing mean...can i just plug the pump into the float switch and it will work??

do you guys advise this if so?

Why would you use a float switch designed for a sump pump application? It would activate a pump when the float is triggered from rising water, totally opposite of how an ATO would operate.

If you are not using a controller already then I would go with the Avast one as a pre-made unit

I fill a 50 gallon Rubbermaid container up With ro di water and that seems to work fine.

on two tanks. I like it, no issues and heavy made pieces that I don't think a snail could screw up. I like the adjustment, and I drilled into the bottom of my top off container, stored just over my sumps so that it is gravity fed into the sump. I used no power and no need for a controller (although I do have an apex, I dont need it for my top off).

Only thing I see going on with that trigg just like any a snail could get under it when is on and get it stuck on but like any it could happen but I like that better than power and a pump
