Thanks. I just ordered new 1 cc syringes. What size tubing should I use? The shark is looking much better. It is starting to look less pail and moving much better.
I am unsure if you got my PM I sent in the morning but thanks again for you help. Should I feel the stomach expand?
what kind of food did you force feed, how much, and if frozen cube what do you dilute with? I have a coral cat that hatched july 4th and still hasn't eaten yet.
I used Rods in RODI. I feed about 5-6 times a week. It isn't hard just awkward. I did the same thing I did in the video except with a smaller syringe and I sprayed pam on a piece of filter floss and wiped the tube down. At first I think I was going to fast because the stomach was inflating a little so I slowed it down.
If fishfirst has done this before and knows what he is doing I would take him up on his offer.
I know it sounds a little weird but it worked for this person. It might be worth a try. It will be less stressful then shoving a tube down her. I will just paste what he wrote on another fourm. He is on here too.
"No biggie, just scoop her up and place her face in front of the mysis shrimp. I will actually hold her like a dust buster and suck up all of the mysis. "
around 1am sunday morning the shark came out from hiding. i put a cube of shark formula and the cortez ray went into frenzy mode till she found it. well i notice when the ray went into frenzy mod it triggered something in the little shark it started cruzing everywhere around the area the cube was placed. I put a cube of mysis shrimp down a few inches from where the shark was but where the ray couldnt get it. the shark circled the area. the shark look like he was eating the pieces that would float off from the cube but would swim right by the cube. so I stuck my and down there and broke the cube up and mysis shrimp filled the water around the shark. it looked very much like he was eating them as when he or she swam to the front of the tank it had a few mysis hanging from its mouth. it stayed out swimming around until about 3 am.
he or she came out around 10pm sunday night/last night. I put another mysis cube down there but i just could tell if he/she was eating. its so small in a big tank and also being dark. I also put a frozen shark cube halfway in the sand so it doesnt float. I went back and checked on it a few time cube was still there. well around 4 am the cube was gone and the shark was cruzing all around the tank. I cut up a silver side very fine and dumped it into the tank. The ray went into frenzy mode again and the shark look like it did the same. The shark went to the bottom of the tank swallowed a nice chunk of silver side and went staight behind the rocks where it sleeps.
I hope it get better i just want to make sure its getting enough food. Fishfirst thanks ill take you up on that off if things dont get better.
just went in there to see if the coral cat was awake. sure enough it was out cruising around. I just dropped some finlly chopped silversides down in the tank. it ate about 3-4 pieces and just rested on the bottom until the ray came to investigate and bumped the shark. Then the shark ran back to his hiding spot. I hope he comes back out before day light for a second meal.
