How to remove old silicone?

I have been given a 135gallon tank 72x24x18h. It belonged to a friend of mine and it was all cut apart. It still has the old silicone on the edges and panes. I can use a razor blade and get the majority but still some stays on the glass. I can't seem to get it off. I know nothing dissolves silicone, so what do I do? I tried a wire wheel on a drill that gets it but scratches the glass. It will be used as a refugium,...so any suggestions?

steel woll might work, but again scratch the glass, but for a fuge idk if it wold be so bad, i wouldnt mind looking at a fuge throug hseo mscratches, you could also cover the scratehes in clear nail polish

That is a tough one. My first thought was a wire wheel on a dremmal. I work on cars and the snap on guy sells a plastic wheel with 1/4" rubber knobs coming off of it. It works well with a die grinder but a dremmal should be able to spin it fast enough. It gets silicone off of a manifold well.

I'm doing the same thing. I always has a little left on the glass is hard like lime. I just keep using new razors and concentrate on small areas and it does come off.
