Anyone has successfully taken care of a baby clam? I am getting a 1.5" maxima and need to know if it is really necessary to do off-tank feeding and what else i need to know. thanks!

A clam smaller than 2.5 inches needs supplimental feeding, the best way to get it all the pyto it needs is to move it to a bowl every other day.

I think the jury is still out on bowl feeding. some people do it and have healthy clams, some people don't and also have healthy clams. removing them from the tank every other day will stress the clam.

bottom line is they need feeding, and that's either in a bowl or the tank..

good info. i think I could feed it with an inverted 2 litter bottle on top of it. This would avoid removing it from the tank (I agree it would be stressful). Sounds like a good plan?

I'm just not sold on the idea myself, and it's a PITA. Clams live in mostly clear water, with a low concentration of food, they filter water all the time and get enough plankton to survive. target feeding like that is certainly not like their natural environment... so I like to keep it more natural but, to each his own I guess. hey, find something that works for you and the clam and then stick with it.
