How to update Euroquatics A1/A1P

The lights are currently ramping down and will be off in 45 minutes, so intensity is very low right now. The fans are not currently running. If I unplug the lights and plug them back in, the fan runs for 10-15 seconds and then shuts off.

According to the app, the fans are at 0% and the fixture temp is 19c (66F). Assume since the app has the fixture temp listed and the fan level, the fans ramp up/down based on temp????

I used the web interface to put the lights on the 15K “mood” mode for 20 minutes.

According to the web interface the temp of the fixture went up to 25c (77F) and the fans came up to 20%.

Then it went up to 27c and fan went up to 30%.

I couldn’t hear the fans (over the regular tank sounds) but, I could feel them moving air. That’s a testament to how silent they are.

So, I don’t think temperature is an issue???

The fans only run when they need to run. In my case almost never and they never run continuously, just pulse for a few seconds every minute during my peak light cycle. I imagine with every led at 100% in a hot room they might run continuously.

Okay, based on this and my “test” last night, I’m thinking it’s not a heat issue. So, something wonky with the Apex (they’re plugged into outlets 1&2 of the Apex Jr, not an EB8).

Or, could it be I don’t have them connected to WiFi using WPS? I just accessed them through the Euronet IP address when I set them up. I thought somewhere @kharmaguru mentioned that connecting them to home WiFi made them act wonky.

Well, per Mrs griss, the lights came on at 9:00 and as of right now they are still on.

It's actually easier to connect to your home network with the new firmware because you can do it from the web interface, but I always found it would get kicked off my network after a couple days and I'd have to direct connect anyway. Even when it was happy, it kept bouncing back and forth between two IP's so I had to have two bookmarks to find the lights. It could be a me problem and not an everybody problem and I don't need to access my lights from every device in the house so I don't care to solve it.

Thanks for the clarification. I remembered you said something about the home network but couldn't remember exactly what it was.

I'm using an old laptop to be the designated device for both the lights and my Apex (when not using Fusion) so, I guess I didn't really see the need to connect to the home network.

I have an old ACll, IF there is a power outage ANY & ALL outlets on manual control revert back by default.
Something to keep in mind, but apparently not the problem if they are on schedule now.

This is interesting. As mentioned above, my (2) Euroquatics are plugged into the Apex Jr controller. They stayed on all day today. When I got home tonight, I wanted to change the intensity. When I did, the lights went out. I cycled (using the Fusion App) the outlets they're plugged into off, then on and they came back on. Then, I wanted to change the color and when I saved that change, the lights went off. Again, cycling the outlets off/on, the lights came back on.

So, it sounds like making programming changes to a Program in Euroquatics throws the Apex off. For anyone wanting to use these lights, if you have an Apex, I'd recommend plugging the light directly into a wall outlet.

I don't know bud, that makes no sense. The lights go off but you are still in the web interface and it still works or the whole thing goes off? Have you confirmed that plugging into a normal outlet prevents this behavior?

I'm in the web interface, make changes to my program, save those changes and the lights turn off. I go into Apex Fusion, turn the Apex outlets to off, wait to hear the click for them cycling off, turn the outlets on, and the lights come back on.

I haven't plugged into a wall outlet to test yet. I currently don't have an open one near the tank. I might run an extension cord over there and see if it happens like that.

That said, the tank is in the basement and I'm on the main floor of the house above the tank when I've done this. So, maybe when I do this, it's messing with the web interface causing an issue? I'll report back when I can test this.

well what if while still in the web interface after the lights have gone off, you click something else = like a mood, a different program etc, do they come back on? (without cycling the apex outlets).

If I get home early enough tomorrow I’ll try that.

What are you thinking? I’m thinking the drop in power draw by lowering intensity is throwing the Apex off.

I was thinking the apex has nothing to do with it and you've discovered a quirk that a couple of clicks in the interface might remedy - change the program, change it back kind of thing. don't know just guessing.

Well, I'll be. While sitting right next to the tank with the laptop, I changed the intensity 1%, hit save, lights went out. I activated a Mood, lights came on, turned the Mood off, and it went right back to the program. Interesting. As always, thank you.

I'll check if mine do that at some point, The same program has been running for months so I haven't tinkered with anything.

Lights almost out, so I don't want to mess with it more tonight. Tomorrow, I'll play with it more if I have time.

George, how are you liking the lights so far? Did you get the powerbar straightened out?
I've not had any other issues so, I think it might have just been a freak thing.

As far as how much to I like them, they're growing on me. They are a huge change from MH so, they're taking a bit of getting used to. I originally had the intensity set at 75% at peak day and my anemone was NOT happy. I had to dial them back.

The only thing I'm not happy with, is the fact that I have what I'll call shading in the corners of my tank (40B) with only two fixtures. I use corner frag racks and my Acro frags weren't getting enough light so, I put my actinic LED light bar back on temporarily. I have 3 more fixtures arriving today and I'm going to put a third on the tank with them mounted perpendicular to the length of the tank. So, that should eliminate the shading in the corners.
