How well does yours work?

I just got my RO Unit and I think I just had better expectations. I have it hooked to an indoors garden spout. It is rated at 100gpd
So, that means it will only fill approx. 4.1 gallons an hour. Is this correct. I don't really care, however, I just want to make sure it's working correctly.

How do people using a 60 gpd do it? That would mean it would it would take a full 24 hours to fill a 60 gallon tank?

Your input is appreciated!

Thanks,
Justin

I have a 60gpd and it makes ~15gpd. It depends on pressure and temp. A pump will maximize output.

This is just my experience--and I called Kent when I first got it--they told me output varies w/ pressure being critical. Do you have a pressure gauge?

OK, so that sounds right to you?

Well the good news is that you got a large unit, the bad news is not to expect the full capacity unles you have an input pressure of 50 to 60 psi and an input temperature of 70*F.

It really doesn't matter to me. I'll just have to adjust. I just wanted to make sure this is correct. My input pressure is through the roof!

Temp of the incoming water has a lot to do with the amount of water produced also. That and amount of pressure are your two biggest things that affect how much water is produced in an hour. I have a Kent Maxxima Hi-S 60 gpd that produces about 1-1.5 per hour. I think the gpd number is what the membrane is capable of producing when optimal conditions are met. I can make 20 gallons in about 10-12 hours usually and that gets me through the week with topoff water and 10 gallons for water change that week.

You only have to fill the tank full once ;)

I've got a 75 gpd. I've got a 32 gal rubbermaid that I store water in. IMO that's about perfect .... I get the water running, head off to bed. When I wake up, it's mostly full - and I've got RO top-off for the week for all my tanks.

I sure don't wait for it to generate ... as I rarely sleep more than the 11 hours it would take to overflow my storage container :)
