Hydor slim skim nano question

Just purchased a hydor slim skim skimmer for my IM 40. Right now its producing a lot of water, and no skim. I have the valve open as it says to have. The only other thing I am noticing is it sounds likr its choking, like not enough flow in our ot. Hoping someone has used this model or the next up, thanks.

Skimmers have a break in period. You should be ok if you have decent foam flowing up and forming under the receptacle. fwiw at best I get tea, never had much of skimmate out of mine.

You may need to raise the cup if you are only getting water. The foam should break down and not flow up into the cup if it doesn't have any dissolved organics.

my pump is temperamental and won't always restart, that's when I break it down for a thorough cleaning.

How low is the skimmer in the tank? If the water line is too high, you will get a lot of water. Try raising it in the tank and see if that helps.
