I adopted a coral. I have no clue what it is. Can anyone help?

Pretty sure that it isn't a zoo...instead of individual polyps, it seems to have a leathery "skin" that the polyps are growing out of

Nah, its some zoos. I've got some in my tank.

Edit: I could be wrong. I just grazed over the leathery skin part. It looks a lot like some zoos. Weird.

In picture one, the specimen shows what looks like a hard, bony, but fleshcovered space between polyps. If intervening tissue is hard, it is a stony coral. The pagoda or cup coral has flat hard tissue broken by polyp heads, and if that's what you've got, it's a nice piece. You may want to visit the SPS forum to look at requirements and ask questions. I'm still new to the stonies myself, but they're my favorites.

I second the pagoda (Turbinaria), because you can see the flesh in the second pic where the polyps are partially withdrawn.

Its easy. Turn the coral upside down. If the bottom is still part of the coral is a pagoda. If its a rock its zoos. Geez.
