I cant beleive i just did that!!!!!

Slave to the reef!
I was topping off my 24 gallon with 10 gallon sump and i forgot the RODI running causing my tank to overflow. I checked the salinity and it was down to 1.020. I got the salinity back up but im worried as crap right now. I have a bunch of SPS, a clam, and a bunch of softies. Im hoping everything doesnt start dropping!!!

So far everything appears normal, but i know this has to have some adverse affects.

Any advice on what i could do to soften the blow?

Been there, done that. I don't know about the clam, but everything should be all right. If your salinity went 'off', so did every other parameter, potentially. Check your calcium, magnesium, alkalinity (most likely to suffer), and if alk is off, buffer according to package directions. If cal is off, fix it tomorrow, and if mg is off, (probably not: it changes much more slowly) fix that on the third or fourth day, depending on how the alk holds. What your tank's been through is sort of like a mass acclimation (twice) and right now it mostly needs stability. You may get a little algae bloom, but mostly now do things according to the labels and slowly. My favorite mistake (I know better now) was forgetting to unplug the autotopoff when I stopped the other electronics. I now go through a mental checklist of switches that have to be thrown and plugs that have to be pulled in which order.

Thanks for the advice man, i knew it was going to happen eventually. Usually i turn on the topoff and set the timer on my microwave. Well forgot about the timer, 2 hours later i remembered i was topping off.

Guess all i can do now is hope for the best.............
