can damsels, the blue one with the yellow tail, eat pulsing xenia? i was watch him after i put in the xenia and he was the only one comeing near it, he even looked like we was nibbling at it. blah that was the first coral i have tried and he eat it. theres nothing left of it, theres just a pinkish spot where it used to be. i check all my parameters and they looked fine, the only thing was my ph was low 7.8. someone please give me some advice.

i don't know if he would eat it...but if he does I know some people that would rent him from you to nibble on their xenia!!!

Lol you could sell him on here and make $$$. Noone wants their xenia anymore.

I've never seen many creatures eat xenia because they're so bitter and disgusting, but so is the personality of those small damsels :)

I had a crazy blue tang that eats xenia.........

ok well i am a broke cuban that wanted some xenia in his tank, blah, so i tried i failed. now its time to watch my mantis eat a damsel. anyone know a trick to getting him out without trapping the clownfish?

Not gthat I want a damsel, I know they're DEVIL FISH, but if you add them last they arent as problematic. plus we always complain about the fragility (if thats a word) of this hobby that we love, how all the nice fish, the colorful ones etc, are to fragil, eat coral, dont eat, etc. Damsels arent any of those, they dont eat coral, they have some beautiful colors and are virtually indestructible, and we still dont want them (including me).

We don't want them because they're not docile fish, they do not get along with any other fish, are incredibly bitter angry defensive fish, and are territorial. And they're cheap. If they were expensive, people wouldn't get them unless they knew what to do to make them happy, and then they wouldn't be this little angry common fish that everyone hates.

Again I know theyre devil fish and I wouldnt want them (call it devils advocate, pun intended), that said- Theyre like chihuahuas, little fish, nasty attitudes. The thing is that everyone adds them first cause theyre so hardy and cheap. I do believe if you add them last they arent as bad.

Put it this way, if you were added to a tank with less than prestine conditions to help make it a safe enviroment, you suffer through it and survive, wouldnt you think it belongs to you, aleast that the others owe you something, some kind of homage (again devils advocate).

I have 2 yellowtail blue damsels in my 90, they don't bother anybody and I have plenty of Xenia. Maybe your fish were REALLY hungry? IDK. Anyway, I like them and I like Xenia too. I just don't like it when they try to take over my tank and I end up having to pull rocks out and scrape the Xenia off.
