Hey Guys and Gals, been ages since I posted last. Get real busy this time of year with work. !2 hour shifts 7 days a week....anyhow have a question about my Icecap ballast 660.
As of today my GFI keeps tripping off and I narrowed it down to the ballast. Let me ask you this will a bulb being out cause the ballast to trip.? Also there is a reset button on the ballast but it don't trip when I plug the lights in. Does this sound like a bad ballast
Thanks
Brian

Hey Brian,I don't know the answer, but I just wanted to say hi!

Post in the Icecap forum, email them or call, they have great customer service I had problems with a very old 660 they told me to send it in and they basically returned a new ballast in the old housing, problem solved.

Hey Rogger.....As soon as I get my ducks back in a row I will be attending meeting again. I would have loved the meeting where Jeff did the presentation on photography. No I'm not out of the loop tank is doing great .....minus the ballast thingy. I posted a message over on the Icecap forum and getting ready to give them a call. Rogger Thanks
Happy Halloween

I just did that, and going to email them or call today. I have 2 bulbs running on the other ballast....should be ok for a few days I hope.

Brian, it could just be an overly sensitive GFCI. When I set up my tank, my brand new icecap 430s would not work with one brand of GFCI. Tripped the GFCI whenever it tried to light cold bulbs. If I defeated the ground prong, they would fire, or if the bulbs were still warm, they could re-light without issue.

On someone's advice, I switched to a different brand - Leviton, from Home Depot - and I've never seen the problem again.

Well smell smoke......when ahead and just pluged the lights into a regular plug no GFIC. Smoke coming out of the Ballast....time to make a phone call
Thanks Jeff...Im using Leviton GFCI and lights have been OK now for a little bit over a year

You know....once you let the smoke out, it doesn't work right anymore. :D

Hopefully icecap will get you patched up!
