Ich or Fin Rot? Copperband Butterfly HELP!

i got a free copperband butterfly fish that was believed to have ich. i put him in my QT to treat him for ich, but on further inspection i don't think its ich. the white spots are only on his fins and look more like a fungi.

this is the best picture i managed to get, stupid camera.

i have melafix for fin rot and i was wondering if that would be a better treatment or should i cut out the infected area of the fin?

Looks like lymphocytis to me. Nothing you can do for that, except wait for it to go away. Which it usually does eventually.

Just give him good care and eventually its immune system should be able to fight the virus off.

thanks guys, that's exactly it. i started giving him frozen brine shrimp soaked in garlic guard to help with his immune system.
