Ick

I know that treating salt water Ick is hard. If I have a fish with Ick, and I remove it from the tank, or it eventually dies, is the rest of the tank infected for good.

I know that Ick needs a "fish" in the tank to survive, but does that include Live rock, snails and crabs....

In other words will they continue to carry on the disease?

If so then how do you ultimately get rid of it?

some ppl say that there is always ich in the tank no matter what you do. and other say you have to intoduce it to the tank. the best way to avoid ich is to have a good enviroment for the fish you want. good water parameters. keep their immune system high by feeding garlic soaked foods. ich is usually common when a fish gets stressed out. also ich will only host fish. inverts and LR are immune to it and will not get it.using a qt tank from the start is the best way to never let it into the main tank. if you do get ich in the main tank you must leave that tank fishless for a minumum of 6 weeks to kill of the ich.

SandyH64, treating ick is not as hard as it may seem. Almost all of my fish when they were first introduced into my main display (even with initial QT routine) developed some ick.

Like kau_cinta_ku mentioned - quality food + Selcon + Garlic extract + good flow and water parameters and your fish' immune system will take care of ick. Some reefers had success with a diatom filter that also helps with ick:
