BTW, not great survival rates in captivity. Hopefully someone with some success can chime in and correct me.

Often found upside down...that's interesting.

I don't rememeber them being very expensive, but haven't seen one personally in a long time.

Sumire Yakko (スミレヤッコ ) is correct (Violet Angel). And I know where you got that pic.

The current nomenclature is Centropyge venustus.

I thought it had been changed to Paracentropyge, same genus as the peppermint angel, ... ?

Sumireyakko venustus (Yasuda & Tominaga 1969), Venustus, Purple-Mask or Blue-Backed Angelfish (3). Formerly of the genus Centropyge, now placed in the genus Sumireyakko, and mis-placed by some authors in the genus Paracentropyge. Western Pacific rim. To five inches in length.

According to several online databases, Sumireyakko sp. is defunct. The latest (and supposedly correct ) is Centropyge venustus.

Centropyge venustus , which shows all the previous names as being out of usage.

I don't even bother trying to keep up with the taxonomy of many species, since it changes too often, too fast.
