Can anyone tell me what this is?

(I hope the picture works)

I have no idea. I have seen pictures before but don't remember what they are. They seem to disappear completely into small holes during the night.

The color leads me to think otherwise, but it sure looks like one of those danm majano anemones. If you don't want to kill it, watch it closely and make sure it doesn't spread. I've had to deal with those things stinging my corals for a long time. I swear I had over 250 of them spread through my tank. They relocate themselves to sit in groups at the bottom of coral colonies, and sting them till they close up and start to die. I got them originally as a "bonus" on the first coral I ever bought. What a great present for a newb. I thought it was great that they were spreading everywhere and even traded small rocks of them in to another LFS for store credit. I went through a big majano eradication endeavor a couple years ago where I got the majority of them. A half black angel I bought seems to like to eat them, so that took care of the majority of what was left. Still a few of those little buggers luking around in my tank, though ...... Play it safe ;)

Thanks guys. I got both of them off without any problem. I will just have to keep a close eye to see if any more show up.

zac,

good to see you around again!

And it's good to be around :) . Unfortunately, today was the last day of my spring break, which just may mark the end of my RCing as well ... at least temporarily. I really need to concentrate on school rather than play on RC like I have been known to do in the past. We'll see if I can handle "just a taste" ;)

Smart move mjkn2
