So, I have a very successful 55 gal. cichlid tank right now. I have had it for about 3 years, and have been breeding them like crazy with great success. I have added a 40 gallon tank under my 55, and have all the babies that i can catch in that. It looks quite nice, but I'm seriously thinking about getting a 180 or larger tank eventually, and then cleaning out botht the 55 and 40, and turning the 55 into a refugium, and letting that drain into the 40 which will be the sump. Should I reverse this? Or is that set up okay? I would be getting pre-cut/pre-drilled glass from a local glass place and making my own tank with dual overflows in the corners. The plumbing would be the issue. Would I want to cut a new bottom for my 55 and have a hole put into it, or would I just want to make a siphon overflow on it? Would I also want to cut into the fourty and make a non submersable pump going back up into the main tank? I have ideas, but I would like for others to give me some more help on this! This would be a very long project, as I don't have any of the materials for the larger tank. Please help, post pics, and give some feedback on anything you all think would be good!
