reeferpnoy -

Nice pieces. I had a question about your frags. When you have the algae growing around them like that. Does that affect the growth in any way? Because I've purchased frags like that, and I try any hardest to either clean off the plug or remount them.

Your thoughts?

Very nice pieces reeferpnoy... I like the first one best :)

Thanks Doc is the joe in the blender? and can u ID the 2nd one thanks...

All D- actually the growth is not bad but the that turf dominating it I will just have to rip the micro's and place them on the new plug....

I thought that the second one looked ALOT like either the True UFO as it matures? see how it has the same central green star?

See the similarities

or actually it also reminds me of the Orange UFO cant tell from the color balance but close

The pointed top TURBINE snails are the only ones that I have found that will eat that algea from around the plug... Yes the Algea WILL inhibit growth and even kill polyp edges and lead to infection if left un checked... I just spent 8 hours with my wife and son cleaning up about 150 frags over the weekend that had algea on them :( All better now :)

EHHH any snails are clumbsy But the Turbins are probably the least invasive... Very mihimal "Knocking" They do have a habit of getting rolled onto thier backs and dying unrecovered :( I have to periodically check and "rescue" them from upside down death

Just interested in what kind of snails people are using??? I have Turbos and Astreas. The Turbos are horrible at knocking over stuff. I want to try another type that does good at mowing down the algae around frag discs.

To avoid having to deal with that falling on their backs and dying issues, I much prefer trochus snails. Often confused with astreas, but won't fall over and just lay there and die. I'm pretty sure live aquaria sales them. They're just as good as atreas and not nearly as stupid. I don't know why people keep buying astreas when there's a better option available.

Trochus Snails are good, i love them but Tiger Trochus Snails are the best out of them. The cadillac of the snails. ;)

That's the only problem. Visually, I'm not sure how to tell the difference between the two. But I know from experience that I don't have to turn my snails right side up everyday. I wonder if that pet place has them mixed up with astreas???
